Emboldened by Re-Election, Greg Abbott Invokes Invasion Clause after Over 2 Million Encounters at Southern Border Recorded in 2022

Governor Greg Abbott announced he is invoking the invasion clause of the constitution to defend Texas and the United States from the invasion at our southern border.

Abbott Tweeted:

“I invoked the Invasion Clauses of the U.S. & Texas Constitutions to fully authorize Texas to take unprecedented measures to defend our state against an invasion. I’m using that constitutional authority, & other authorization & Executive Orders to keep our state & country safe:“

He outlined things he will be doing in an image in the tweet.

• Deploy the National Guard to safeguard our border & to repel & turn back immigrants trying to cross the border illegally;
• Deploy the Texas Department of Public Saftey (DPS) to arrest & return to the border immigrants who crossed illegally & deploy DPS to arrest illegal immigrants for criminal activity;
• Build a border wall in multiple counties on the border;
• Deploy gun boats to secure the border;
• Designate Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations;
• Enter into a compact with other states to secure the border;
• Enter into agreements with foreign powers to enhance border security; &
• Provide resources for border counties to increase their efforts to respond to the border invasion

Many Republican governors across the country have had enough of the flood of illegal immigrants coming into the country since Biden took hold of the Executive Branch.

Greg Abbot has tried to push Biden to do something about the open southern border. Biden has instead insisted that the border is closed, all meanwhile there have been over 2 million border encounters recorded in 2022. It is hard to see how the border is closed and even those crossing have told Fox News that the border is “open” and they love “Joe Biden”.

Not many illegals who are caught at the border are turned back, most of them are processed through and released into the interior of the United States, they are given a phone and told they will have to show up to court when it is scheduled.

They have already broken the law in the manner in which they came to the country, it makes one wonder why they would come back for a court date and face possible deportation.

Abbott has had enough, being directly affected daily by the illegal crossings he is done trying to get the Biden Administration to do something and is taking the effort into Texas’s hands.
