Fauci Accuses Rand Paul of Using a ‘Catastrophic Epidemic’ For His ‘Political Gain’ After Getting ‘Obliterated’

Dr. Anthony Fauci testified today before the Senate and had a tense back-and-forth over COVID and Fauci’s role in combatting the virus.

Act for America’s Brigitte Gabriel said of the exchange, “Rand Paul OBLITERATED Dr. Fauci!”

Paul confronted Fauci about his prior claim that attacking him is attacking science and said that such a claim isn’t just irresponsible, it’s dangerous.

“The idea that a government official like yourself would claim unilaterally to represent science and that any criticism of you would be considered a criticism of science itself is quite dangerous,” Paul lectured.

Ultimately, to hit back at Paul, Fauci held up a print out from a part of his website that said, “Fire Dr. Fauci.”

“Why would a Senator want to do this? Go to Rand Paul’s website and you see fire Dr. Fauci with a little box that says contribute here. So you are making catastrophic epidemic for your political gain,” Fauci insisted.

Paul then accused Fauci of being the one to make things political before the two were ultimately cut off to move on to the next senator.

Later, Paul tweeted out a screenshot of Fauci holding up the paper and remarked, “Dr. Fauci and I finally agreed on something in our Senate hearing today.”

Paul followed that up with a clip of his back-and-forth with Fauci where he asked, “Do you think it’s appropriate to use your $420,000 salary to attack scientists that disagree with you?”
