Fired CNN anchor Chris Cuomo is reportedly looking for a big payday after being fired from the network in December.
According to Page Six, Cuomo wants up to $60 million from the network, which a source describes as “Megyn Kelly money.”
Kelly won a $69 million settlement from NBC in 2019 following the media storm when she defended blackface Halloween costumes on her show.
Cuomo’s Demands have been stepped up in the wake of Jeff Zucker’s resignation as president of the network.
When Cuomo was ousted, he had $18 million left on his contract, but he also potentially wants the “loss of income from the 15 to 20 years left in his career.”
“Chris is telling people in the Hamptons he was wrongly fired, humiliated, his career has been ruined, and he wants Megyn Kelly money,” the source told Page Six.
Puck News previously reported that Cuomo has hired litigator Bryan Freedman, who handled Kelly’s NBC resolution.

CNN anchor Don Lemon, who was previously a close friend of Chris, isn’t a fan of any proposed payday, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Lemon reportedly wondered, “Did you think about what message it sends to the journalists in the company and also to the larger public that someone can be found to break with those journalistic standards and then get paid handsomely for it?”
The situation for Cuomo is different from Kelly, as she had the settlement negotiated prior to her departure.
Of course, the reasons for her exit were more straightforward and brought on by specific comments she made, similar to Whoopi Goldberg, in fact, who merely got a two-week suspension from ABC.
The report also noted that Cuomo’s team believes Zucker didn’t resign because of an inappropriate relationship with Allison Gollust as is being reported, rather it had something to do with his firing and the situation surrounding that with his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
