While many Republicans have come out against the move to nominate U.S. House Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) for Speaker of the House, former Congressman Madison Cawthorn has come out in support of Donalds.
“I know @ByronDonalds to be the most honorable, capable, and talented man I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing in my 27 years. Byron for speaker.”

Byron for speaker.
Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has moved into the Speaker’s office and seemingly declared himself as Speaker of the House. This is while 20 Republicans are currently voting for Donalds, leaving McCarthy short of the votes he needs to become Speaker of the House.
Some of the 20 were very vocal before the vote, they were not okay with the same leadership that has failed them. The seemingly uncontrolled spending as well as the miserable performance in the midterms. U.S. Representatives Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Bob Good (R-VA), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), and others have been calling for someone else as speaker.
McCarthy it is being reported is just calling for the voting to continue in an effort to wear down those standing against him. With votes continuing, Victoria Spartz (R-IN) has started to vote present and is calling for discussions to take place instead of votes.
Democrat Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) shared she may vote for McCarthy saying, “I wish I could be part of some kind of a unity caucus that would yield [McCarthy] the votes, because the Republicans hold a majority, and maybe put us in a special category.”
Former President Donald Trump called on those standing in the way of McCarthy’s Speakership to stop and just let McCarthy into the position.
It looks like the seventh vote will happen today at noon, we will see if either side had made any progress with the next vote.
