Former NYC Hardline Mayor Rudy Giuliani Tells Lee Zeldin He is ‘Sorry’ to Hear About Shooting: ‘We Deserve a Safe City!’

Former New York City hardline mayor Rudy Giuliani reached out to Lee Zeldin today after it was reported that two were shot in front of his house while his daughters were there.

As we previously reported, the shooting appears to have nothing to do with the Zeldins, other than it took place in their front yard, and two 17-year-olds, Joel Murphy and Elijah Robinson, were both shot.

Giuliani declared in a tweet, “I am sorry to hear about this. I hope your family is ok, as well as the teenagers who were shot.”

“New Yorkers we deserve a safe city! Vote @RepLeeZeldin for New York Governor.”

Fox News’ Chad Pergram reported on the shooting, “GOP NY Rep & gubernatorial nominee Zeldin on shooting outside his home when his daughters were there: They don’t know whether or not those are the people who are shooting or the people who are getting shot. So we just told them to stay locked down until we got the clear.”

Pergram continued by reporting on Zeldin’s response:

“We’re getting advised where to walk so that we weren’t stepping on blood. This is not something that we were planning to return home to when we left for a Columbus Day parade in the Bronx.”

“Our security cameras picked up these three individuals who were on our property. One was laying down underneath our porch. Another one was laying down under a bush in front of our porch just a couple of feet away. The third person who wasn’t shot was moving all around.”

“I really am grateful for how swift and smartly the girls responded. They just went straight up into the upstairs bathroom, locked themselves in and called 911.”

Current New York Dem Gov. Kathy Hochul and Zeldin’s opponent in the upcoming responded to the incident in a tweet where she said, “I’ve been briefed on the shooting outside of Congressman Zeldin’s home.”

“As we await more details, I’m relieved to hear the Zeldin family is safe and grateful for law enforcement’s quick response,” Hochul added.

On Oct. 6, federal Judge Glenn Suddaby ordered a temporary hold on provisions of a new gun control law that went into effect in the state on September 1st.

New York’s Dem AG Letitia James announced today that she has filed a motion to appeal Suddaby’s ruling.
