Greg Abbott is ‘Livid’, Claims He was ‘Mislead’ About Police Response to Uvalde School Shooting

On Tuesday, an 18-year-old entered Robb Elementary School and took the lives of 21 people. As time has gone by more information is coming to light.

During a press conference today (posted below), Texas Governor Greg Abbott said that he is “livid” that law enforcement “misled” him about their response to the school shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvadale, Texas.

Abbott also stated, “The information that I was given turned out, in part, to be inaccurate, and I’m absolutely livid about that.”

Earlier, this week Abbott had praised police for their “quick response” to the shooting.

CNN Reported: While a gunman was inside adjoining classrooms with children at a Texas elementary school Tuesday, a group of 19 law enforcement officers stood in a hallway outside and took no action as they waited for room keys and tactical equipment, a state official said Friday…

Yet at the same time, children inside Robb Elementary School classrooms 111 and 112 in Uvalde repeatedly called 911 and pleaded for help, he said. They were in the middle of the deadliest school shooting since the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre.

In a different press conference today (posted below), Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Col. Steven McCraw told reporters, “The on-scene commander at that time believed that it had transitioned from an active shooter to a barricaded subject. From the benefit of hindsight where I’m sitting now, of course, it was not the right decision. It was the wrong decision. Period. There’s no excuse for that.”

Since the shooting, video has surfaced showing parents begging police to stop the shooter.

Fox News reported:

Angeli Rose Gomez, a parent of two children in second and third grade at Robb Elementary, told The Wall Street Journal that Texas Rangers arrested her for intervening in an active situation after she and other parents urged police to enter the school building while the suspect was believed to be inside.

“The police were doing nothing,” she told the outlet. “They were just standing outside the fence. They weren’t going in there or running anywhere.”…

“Go in there! Go in there!” onlookers shouted at the officers soon after the attack began, said Juan Carranza, 24, who saw the scene from outside his house, across the street from Robb Elementary School in the close-knit town of Uvalde. Carranza said the officers did not go in.

Javier Cazares, whose fourth-grade daughter, Jacklyn Cazares, was killed in the attack, said he raced to the school when he heard about the shooting, arriving while police were still gathered outside the building.

As more information comes to light, it appears that the police were unprepared for what they were dealing with, and it is uncertain why they thought the gunman, was barricaded alone as they claim.
