Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein is going to get another shot in court.
“I am so grateful to my attorneys for working hard and smart on this,” said a Weinstein spokesman on his behalf. “Their hard work will help me prove my innocence in the end.”
In February of 2020, Weinstein was convicted of third degree rape and committing a criminal sexual act and was given a 23 year sentence. This is an effective life sentence given his poor health. He is still facing charges in Los Angeles county.
His appeal could lead to a higher court upholding or overturning his convictions. This would not het him off the hook in L.A.
It seems unlikely that Weinstein will see the light of day outside prison permanently, but we will monitor the situation anyway. He may get out temporarily however.

If his sentence is overturned, it’s possible he could be released on bail.
