‘He’s Part of the Swamp Cartel’ Bob Good Stands Firm, Insists That Won’t Vote For Kevin McCarthy For Speaker

In an interview this morning with Fox News’ Griff Jenkins, U.S. House Rep Bob Good (R-VA) stood firm and insisted that he won’t vote for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy for House Speaker.

Good said of McCarthy that “he’s part of the swamp cartel” and that he didn’t think McCarthy would be able to stand up adequately against the Democrats.

“What I told them when I started my first term two years ago is I would judge him by what he did as Minority Leader and there’s nothing he’s done to earn my vote,” Good explained.

As for who will end up being the Leader instead, Good said, “I think you’ll see on the second ballot an increasing number of members vote for a true candidate who can represent the conservative center of the conference, can motivate the base.”

Jenkins attempted to get Good to name who that person was, but Good told him that it would not be good strategy to do so prior to the vote.

“If we were to put forth a name right now or over the last few weeks, that person would have suffered all the attacks and retaliation. You’ll see that name tomorrow on the second ballot,” Good insisted.

Jenkins then suggested that Good’s refusal to vote for McCarthy could disrupt the work that Republicans planned to do in Congress but Good dismissed that suggestion.

“We shouldn’t be in a hurry to make a bad decision. It’s worth it to fight for a few hours or even a few days to get the best possible person as House Speaker,” Good declared.

Virginia GOP State Senator Amanda Chase offered her support to Good following the interview in a tweet where she said, “I stand with the people of Virginia who do NOT want to see Congressman Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House.”

“He actually spent thousands against our conservative America First Republican candidates instead of Democrats,” Chase pointed out.

Chase concluded, “That’s unforgivable. Thank you VA Congressman Bob Good!”
