Patriot Congressman Bob Good Leads the Charge Against Kevin McCarthy for Speaker as Andy Biggs Officially Runs

Tuesday morning, the House Republican Conference held a meeting discussing the Speaker of the House for the next Congress. While most are Pro-McCarthy, many others are fed up with his leadership and it was announced Andy Biggs (R-AZ) is throwing his hat in the ring.

It appears America First U.S. House Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) didn’t hold back against GOP House leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

Journalist Jake Sherman tweeted:

“The House Republican Conference meeting this morning turned into a bit of a debate about the merits of making McCarthy speaker of the House. Pro-McCarthy voices: MTG, Mike Kelly, Bill Johnson, French Hill, August Pfluger, Bruce Westerman. Westerman talked about how the minority party in Arkansas once teamed up with two Republicans to elect a speaker. Bob Good of Virginia, the chief McCarthy antagonist, spoke out against the California Republican”

CNN’s Melani Zanona shared:

“Testy debate inside House GOP conference meeting this morning over backing McCarthy for speaker, with pro-McCarthy lawmakers urging unity and anti-McCarthy members speaking out and getting upset they weren’t allowed as much time to talk at the mics, per sources in the room.”

She added, “Rep. Ralph Norman, who has vowed to oppose McCarthy on the floor, was among those who spoke out today, saying he wasn’t gonna be told what to do with his vote and has 28 days to decide on his own.” Good and Biggs aren’t alone in being opposed to McCarthy. Many haven’t spoken out publicly that oppose McCarthy for Speaker as well.

Politico’s Olivia Beavers shared more details on those who were shortchanged on their time to speak, “Source in the room says some like Reps. Roy and Good are angry that those speaking on behalf of McCarthy were able to go longer than the 1 minute speeches, like Reps. MTG and Mike Kelly. Good made a comment about how he doesn’t get 4 min to speak while at mics”.

Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) spoke in favor of McCarthy for Speaker, Beavers also shared that she is frustrated with the anti-McCarthy section, and shares she feels they have taken the vote “hostage”.

Andy Biggs, House Freedom Caucus member, and former chair has stepped up to the plate to challenge McCarthy for Speaker of the House.

Biggs shared on Twitter:

“I’m running for Speaker to break the establishment. Kevin McCarthy was created by, elevated by, and maintained by the establishment.”

Many America First Republicans support this move by Biggs. Anthony Sabatini outgoing Florida State Representative shared, “@RepAndyBiggsAZ is an American Hero” at the news of Biggs’ run.

Col Conrad Reynolds shared his support for Biggs with, “100% support @RepAndyBiggsAZ!”

The House Republican Conference was closed doors, so the speeches from the meeting are not public.

Biggs and Good recently did a podcast together, where they discussed why McCarthy isn’t fit to be Speaker of the House. In the podcast, McCarthy is labeled a member of the uni party and the pair highlight the many things McCarthy has done to stand in their way, all while placating to Democrats.
