House Democrat Demands Nancy Pelosi Not Seat House Republicans Who Backed Texas Election Lawsuit

Democrat House Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. from New Jersey decided after last night’s decision by the Supreme Court not to take up the Texas election lawsuit that he wanted to try to have his chamber of Congress have substantially less Republicans for the upcoming session.

In a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Chairwoman Zoe Lofgren, Pascrell Jr. called on “House leaders to refuse to seat any members trying to overturn the election and make Donald Trump an unelected dictator.”

Pascrell Jr. said that “Section 3 of the 14th Amendment was written after the Civil War to bar from government any traitors who would seek to destroy the Union.”

“My letter to House leadership today demands that 126 Republicans (and counting) are violating the Constitution,” Pascrell Jr. continued.

Pascrell Jr. claimed, “The text of the 14th Amendment expressly forbids Members of Congress from engaging in rebellion against the United States. Trying to overturn a democratic election and install a dictator seems like a pretty clear example of that.”

In an unhinged video that he has tweeted out multiple times now, Keith Olbermann listed some of the Republicans who would not be seated and applauded Pascrell Jr.’s letter.

“SCOTUS thwarts Trump’s Coup – for now. While he plans his next move, 126 Republican Representatives including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Matt Gaetz, Jim Jordan must be punished for their rebellion against the US government. Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. has it: refuse to seat them next month,” Olbermann said in a tweet.

Jonathan Turley shot down the suggestions in a tweet where he was discussing Pennslyvania AG Josh Shapiro and said, “Seeking judicial review is not subversion of the Constitution or a call to rebellion.”

“It is using the constitutional process. If going to the courts is ‘seditious,’ going to church must be atheism,” Turley added.
