U.S. Senator JD Vance (R-OH) called for a vote on his “Freedom To Breathe Act” bill, which would ensure federal bureaucracy would not mandate masks for the next 15 months.
X User The Columbia Bugle shared Vance’s call for a Unanimous Consent Request:
“#BREAKING Senator @JDVance1 Forces Floor Consideration On His “Freedom To Breathe Act” To Ban Federal Mask Mandates “All of us have lived through the failed experiment of mass mandatory masking. Today I want to ensure that we do not subject the American people to this tyranny again for the sake of nothing.” “It’s not just that masks according to randomized controlled studies do no good. It’s that they can actively cause harm. We know that a generation of school children have suffered significant speech and developmental disabilities because this country panicked instead of using its brain and force toddlers and small children to wear masks. ” “We cannot return to the failed policies of the covid pandemic.” “Mandatory masking was a failure. It had costs for very little benefits and we shouldn’t repeat it.”

After Democrats blocked a vote on his bill, Vance responded: “Freedom is fundamentally about respecting that you might have a different view than I do, respecting that, accepting it, and not using government mandates to force our fellow citizens to do exactly what we want them to do.”

As school is now back in session and folks move toward a new cold and flu season, it appears that mask mandates are in the works for some schools, hospitals, and Lionsgate as Vance shared. This move has many on edge as another forced mask mandates may be in the works.
Vance has been speaking out against another mask mandate and attempted to pass legislation that would ban federal bureaucracy, schools, or commercial airlines from mandating them.
In his op-ed for Fox News, Vance wrote, “We all know how this goes. It starts with mask mandates, then social distancing, and then forced lockdowns to ‘slow the spread.’ None of it works, but it costs us dearly. It robbed us of our basic freedoms and shattered our national unity amid a crisis. We cannot let it happen again.”

Democrats seem to have no interest in even engaging in the topic let alone approving a ban on mask mandates. The Columbia Bugle shared their take on what the Democrats’ objection to the legislation may mean for the future.
“By objecting to this legislation, Democrats have shown that they plan to bring back mask mandates (at least) again. Buckle up.”
