Sports broadcaster Jemele Hill took to twitter yesterday to brag about voting no on the California Governor recall ballot.
Hill made it clear, however, that she didn’t do so as endorsement of current governor Gavin Newsom, but rather to reject “clowns” like GOP candidates, Larry Elder and Caitlyn Jenner.
“Never been so happy to vote no on a recall (my first time voting in a recall). This is not an endorsement of Gavin Newsom but a rejection of clowns like Larry Elder and Caitlyn Jenner,” Hill said in a tweet.
Hill added, “The recall has become a tool to promote minority rule and extremism. #VoteNoOnRecall.”
Many questioned the logic of Hill, including Twitter user Casey Sherman, who responded by mocking it:
“Jemele: ‘This is not an endorsement of Gavin Newsom'”
“Also Jemele: ‘Never been so happy to vote no on a recall'”
“If I were sucking it up to support a governor in office that I didn’t endorse, I certainly would not be ‘happy’ about it,” Sherman explained.
Sherman clearly struck a nerve, as Hill quote tweeted his response and shot back, “Comprehension isn’t your strong suit. This vote is to prevent a worse situation. Our options are an unqualified candidate who is pro-slave owner (Elder) and a woman who knows less than most 5 yro’s about government. Deal with Newsom in 2022. Now ain’t the time to get cute.”

It would seem that rhetoric like this perhaps may have contributed to the attack on Elder and his entourage today that we reported on earlier:
In a video posted on Disclose.tv’s Twitter feed, Republican running for California Gov Larry Elder appears to get attacked. Although the person misses in the video, a person in a gorilla mask tries to throw an egg at his head.
Elder is running to replace Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom in the recall election coming up. Elder is a Republican. Although it is possible, it’s not looking good for Elder in our view.
In the video, Elder is being heckled by a person that appears to be a woman. The person with the gorilla mask punches one man in the face twice it appears.
Elder and his entourage appear mostly safe but it is disturbing to see this happen. A man in a blue mask yells about Elder running, asking why he’s even running. He says Democrats control everything and even if Elder won he wouldn’t get anything done, according to the man.
Although Newsom didn’t get an endorsement from Hill, he did have Vice President Kamala Harris by his side today at an event.
Newsom tweeted a picture of the two and said, “Great to have CA’s own VP @KamalaHarris back to talk about what’s at stake this election. This recall is a partisan attempt by Republicans to seize power and move CA backwards on the progress we’ve made—from vaccines to economic opportunity to climate change. Vote NO by 9/14!”
