Jim Jordan Among Five Republicans Named to Jan. 6 Select Committee By Kevin McCarthy

After being named to the Jan. 6 Select Committee by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), U.S. House Rep Jim Jordan (R-OH) released a video montage of Democrats objecting to the 2016 presidential election results.

The House Judiciary GOP, of which Jordan is the ranking member, quote tweeted Jordan and said, “#ICYMI: Ranking Member Jim Jordan Reacts to Being Named to January 6th Select Committee.”

McCarthy also named Study Committee Chairman Jim Banks (R-IN), House Administration Ranking Member Rodney Davis (R-IL), Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-ND) and Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) to serve on the panel.

Banks has led multiple meetings with former President Donald Trump recently and released a statement after news broke of his appointment.

In the statement, Banks asked, “Why was the Capitol unprepared and vulnerable to attack on January 6?”

“Make no mistake, Nancy Pelosi created this committee solely to malign conservatives and to justify the Left’s authoritarian agenda,” Banks added.

Banks vowed to give Americans “The facts.”

CNN noted that three of the five were among the 139 House Republicans who voted to overturn the 2020 presidential results in Arizona and Pennsylvania.

Under the House’s resolution, Pelosi appoints eight members to the commission and McCarthy has five slots “in consultation” with Pelosi, which means the House speaker could ultimately veto his selections, as we’ve previously reported.
