ABC News reported earlier today that hundreds of health care workers across the country are being fired or suspended in droves for not complying with COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
Earlier this month, President Joe Biden announced a vaccine mandate for health care facilities that receive Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, impacting some 17 million health care workers in the nation.
Not only that, but states including New York, California, Rhode Island, and Connecticut also set vaccine mandates for health care workers that take effect this week.
U.S. House Rep Jim Jordan (R-OH) asked in a viral tweet earlier today what many are wondering, “How does firing thousands of doctors and nurses help defeat #COVID19?”

ABC News also noted in their report that there are brewing concerns over staff shortages at already-overburdened hospitals still grappling with COVID-19 cases.
Some hospital networks said they’ve ramped up hiring ahead of vaccine deadlines to stabilize their workforces, they reported, however.
According to ABC News contributor John Brownstein, an epidemiologist and professor at Harvard Medical School, while overall the number of health care workers being terminated or suspended isn’t considered huge, at the same time, “we can’t afford to lose anybody at this point.”
On Tuesday, Jordan also weighed in on the mandates being imposed in a quote tweet of Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” host Jimmy Failla.
“Democrats in 2020: ‘Doctors and nurses are American heroes.’ Democrats in 2021: ‘You’re fired,'” Jordan noted.
Failla had specifically referenced the situation in New York in his tweet where he pointed out, “A year ago New Yorkers were banging pots and pans to salute Nurses at the end of their covid shifts.”
“Now they’re calling on them to be fired for not taking a vaccine for a virus they fought on the front lines,” Failla explained.
Failla then declared, “What a disgusting group of politically transactional ingrates.”
