President Joe Biden and Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (CA) are pinning the blame of rising gas prices and inflation on Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“NEW: Nancy Pelosi claims rising gas prices are Russia’s fault. It’s ‘Putin’s gas hike. That’s his gas hike,’ she says during a press conference.”

“Today’s inflation report is a reminder that Americans’ budgets are being stretched by price increases and families are starting to feel the impacts of Putin’s price hike. But I am fighting to bring down the everyday prices that are squeezing Americans.”

Here’s Putin’s price hike explained:
At the House Democratic Caucus Issues Conference, Biden boldly stated, “Make no mistake, inflation is largely the fault of Putin.” However, gas prices and inflation have risen to record levels before Russian invaded Ukraine.
Pelosi said, “Putin’s tax. Putin’s gas hike. That’s his gas hike. So much of the increase in the gas price started weeks leading up to what happened there.”
One reporter asked Vice President Kamala Harris, “How long should Americans expect — how long should we be bracing for — this historic inflation and some unprecedented gas prices?”

Harris dodged the question and only stated that she was “aware” of the “situation” but didn’t give an answer to how long Americans should be expecting to deal with high gas prices.
While many Democrats are saying that high gas prices are due to the war in Ukraine, some are questioning the narrative. Some may argue that if we continued with green energy independence rather than purchasing oil from Russia, this conflict would not affect the American people at the pump.
