John Kerry’s Attempt to Defend Biden Ends Up Instead Putting the President in Hot Water

Failed Democratic presidential nominee and current White House Climate Envoy John Kerry’s is clearly not the person that President Joe Biden wants defending his actions going forward.

In an interview with French television station BFMTV on Monday, Kerry ended up putting the president in hot water while attempting to smooth things over.

Last month, France expressed it was blindsided by the Biden administration’s tri-lateral agreement between the U.S., U.K, and Australia over the exchange of submarine technology so much so that it prompted French President Emmanuel Macron to briefly pull his ambassador to the U.S. out of the country.

Towards the end of the interview, Kerry said of what transpired, “(Biden) asked me. He said, ‘What’s the situation?’ And I explained- he had not been aware of that. He literally had not been aware of what had transpired.”

Kerry added, “And I don’t want to go into the details of it, but suffice it to say, that the president, my president is very committed to strengthening the relationship and making sure that this is a small event of the past and moving on to the much more important future.”

Conservatives jumped on Kerry’s convoluted explanation with Fox News contributor Joe Concha noting that he was “Not doing the president any favors here…”

Chad Gilmartin, communications director for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), said of the remarks, “Wow! John Kerry admits here that Biden left for his beach vacation unaware that one of our closest allies, France, was furious at the U.S.”

“‘He literally had not been aware of what had transpired,’ says Kerry of Biden. What is going on at the Biden White House???” Gilmartin asked incredulously.

GOP elected leaders including U.S. Sen Bill Hagerty (R-TN) and U.S. House Rep Jim Banks (R-IN) weighed in on the claims by Kerry as well.

Fox News reported on their tweets:

“@ClimateEnvoy John Kerry says @POTUS isn’t consulted on reactions of key US Allies,” Sen. Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., reacted. “This could explain disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal & Biden Admin selling out Eastern European allies in NATO & Ukraine while waiving sanctions on Nord Stream 2 pipeline.”

“What else does Joe Biden not know??” Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., asked.
