Joy Behar Does a Double Take After Guest on ‘The View’ Calls the Constitution ‘Kind of Trash’

Author Elie Mystal appeared yesterday on ABC’s “The View” to discuss his new book which is supposed to be a “Black guy’s” “retort” to the Constitution.

Mystal wasted no time on the show after co-host Ana Navarro asked him, “”Some will say, are you arguing for throwing out the Constitution? Should the Constitution be thrown out? What do we do? Is it a living document or a sacred document?”

“It’s certainly not sacred. All right, let’s start there. The Constitution is kind of trash. Once again let’s just talk as adults for a minute,” Mystal replied.

Co-host Joy Behar appeared shocked and did a double-take by asking Mystal, “What’d you say, it’s what?”

“It’s kind of trash,” Mystal repeated as Behar appeared to still be shocked and responded by emphasizing, “Trash.”

Mystal then went on a racially charged rant where he told the co-hosts that he would advocate changing the document to elect the president through popular vote rather than the Electoral College, to place term limits on Supreme Court justices and eliminate states’ rights on “health care, elections, policing and guns.”

U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) shared a clip of the exchange and vowed, “I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign AND DOMESTIC…”

Whether or not Behar knew that was coming, it would seem that “The View” should be careful about what sort of rhetoric happens on the show given the headlines made recently by co-host Whoopi Goldberg.

It appears, however, that it is full steam ahead with controversy and an effort to reshape America by introducing a radical overthrow of the principles on which it was founded.
