Judge Has Yet to Rule on 7-Year-Old Boy Transgender Custody Battle

Update story here. Continue to the original story below:

In the case of a 7-year-old boy named James and his twin brother Jude, the jury came to a consensus of 11 out of 12 jurors on Monday. The boys’ father Jeffery Younger was asking to be granted the sole managing conservatorship of his boys, this would mean he would have complete authority over medical psychological and other decisions for the boys. The jury ruled that one of the parents should be Solen Managing Conservator that parent being the boys’ mother Dr. Anne Georgulas.

Mr. Younger petitioned the court for sole custody in an effort to avoid a plan to chemically castrate and infuse his young son James with female hormones his ex-wife Dr. Georgulas was pushing James towards. Dr. Georgulas had taken her son to a therapist after he wanted to dress up like the female characters in the Disney movie “Frozen”. This therapist diagnosed three-year-old James with gender dysphoria and then laid out steps to affirm James in his dysphoria.

Mr. Younger says his James is a boy when he is with him and doesn’t want to be called Luna or dress up as a girl and paint his nails he just wants to play with his brother and the other kids. However, when James is with his mother he is called Luna. Dr. Georgulas wanted Mr. Younger to also participate in affirming James as Luna and wanted to limit James’ contact with anyone who wouldn’t affirm him. Dr. Georgulas filed for a restraining order that would prevent Mr. Younger from using James given name but would require him to call James, Luna as well as use female pronouns when referencing his son.

Mr. Younger’s response to this was to file for sole custody however the jury has granted sole custody to Dr. Georgulas. Judge Kim Cook was to give her ruling on the case Wednesday, however, this has been delayed and is to be released today at an unannounced time.

Yesterday evening Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced the Texas Attorney General’s Office is looking into the case.

Earlier this month the Supreme Court heard a case on LBGTQ+ Employment Rights, discussing Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Depending on the ruling, in this case, it could affect NCAA regulations on Women’s sports which currently does not allow biological males in women’s sports. This could be a landmark case in the rights of women vs the rights of Transgender women.
