Kenosha County Sheriff Hands Out Coffee and ‘Cookies For Peace’ At Table Across From Courtroom

After Domino’s Pizza was delivered yesterday outside of the courtroom where the Kyle Rittenhouse murder trial is taking place, today Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth tried a similar tactic.

In an attempt to potentially stop any violence that might occur following the verdict, Beth setup a table with Dunkin Donuts coffee and cookies to be handed out with a sign that said “cookies for peace.”

According to journalist Ford Fischer, who tweeted a video of the setup, Beth said, “We’re here to support everybody who’s out here on both sides. The media and the people out here will say their piece, and law enforcement. Everyone gets coffee and cookies.”

On Twitter, however, some were not convinced that the plan would work.

Journalist and verfied Twitter user Debra Heine remarked, “If you promise not to burn the town down, we’ll give you a cookie.”

Twitter user Deandre Williams replied to Fischer’s tweet and said, “Lmfao that will stop the looting and rioting and burning of buildings in the coming days.”

Channel 3000 reported that Beth told them, “I think the fact that the sheriff is walking around handing cookies to people, it’s breaking a little bit of the ice and a little bit of the tension. Hopefully we have no trouble from here on out,”

“I’m pretty confident that this is about as rowdy as we’re going to get,” Beth insisted.

The sheriff’s department has been working on their plan for months, supposedly, and Beth explained, “There’s all kinds of plans in place. We have plenty of resources on standby, waiting if we needed them, but we’re not hearing that we’re going to need them.”
