It was reported today that TV news veteran Katie Couric is facing backlash on social media after she wondered during an appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher” how to “deprogram” members of President Trump’s “cult.”
Actress and outspoken Trump supporter Kirstie Alley fired back at Couric in a tweet where she tagged the former NBC anchor and said, “Wow @katiecouric we’ve known each other for 35 years but if U really think I need to be deprogrammed along with 80 million conservatives ur gonna need to organize massive deprogrammers.”
“Curious who they would be. Shrinks or Nazis? I hear both were good at it, yet still failed,” Alley added.
Actress Kristy Swanson agreed with Alley and replied, “Hateful and hurtful Katie. Very sad.” She added American Flag and praying hands emojis.

Kimberly G W, who is followed by Grammy award winner Travis Tritt, replied to Alley, “I unfollowed Katie over it. I have followed her career my entire life. I had no idea she’d be like that towards half or more of our countries people. I’m glad I’m on the side of freedom, light, and love. The hate & insanity of the current left is Unrecognizable and full of venom.”

Couric reportedly made her comments after Maher said he was more worried about the “loons” in Congress than the Trump supporters who were involved in the Jan. 6 siege on the U.S. Capitol.
Maher wondered in regards to those elected officials, “Because, I mean, what do you do about these people?”
“There’s 147 Republicans in Congress who still don’t concede that Trump lost the election,” he pointed out and then twisting the purpose of their objections asked, “What do you do about people who are in the government who don’t believe in our way of government?”
Couric then responded Maher and said that she believed, “It is so shocking.”
“Not only are they not conceding, Bill, but there are thoughts that there might have been some collusion among members of Congress, some are refusing to go through magnetometers or whatever you call them to check for weapons, they’re not wearing masks during the siege,” Couric continued, pushing unfounded theories that have been floated recently by Democrats.
Couric then suggested, “I mean, it’s really bizarre, isn’t it, when you think about how AWOL so many of these members of Congress have gotten, but I also think some of them are believing the garbage that they are being fed 24/7 on the internet, by their constituents, and they bought into this big lie and the question is how are we going to really almost deprogram these people who have signed up for the cult of Trump.”
