Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre sidestepped answering a question when asked if confiscation of semi-automatic weapons was on the table for Biden.
A reporter started his question, “The last presidential campaign a democratic contender [Beto O’Rourke] said that what he would do was come for AR-15s.” He then went on to ask KJP, “Does the president support not just banning the sale and manufacture of semi-automatic weapons but further than that confiscate?”
KJP started to wag her finger and replied, “Let me just be very clear. What we’re talking about AR-15s, these assault weapons bans, they are weapons of war and they should not be on the streets on across the country in our communities. They should not be in schools, they should not be in grocery stores, they should not be in churches. That’s what the president believes. “

In the wake of the mass shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, TN, the White House has brought up an assault weapons ban once again.
The press secretary said in an interview with MSNBC, “What I will say to Republicans in Congress is, ‘What are you going to say to these parents?”

The White House is trying to pressure Republicans to get behind an “assault weapons” ban. From the response of KJP, it is unclear if Biden will also push for the confiscation of weapons as well.
