In a pair of tweets today, U.S. House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) took a victory lap after it was reported that Jacob Chansley has been granted early release from prison.
Chansley, known as the “QAnon Shaman,” will spend the next two months in a halfway house, with a release date from that scheduled for May 25.
Greene credited Fox News’ Tucker Carlson and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy in one of the tweets for the early release.
Leftists and the mainstream media appear to be downplaying such a suggestion by claiming that he received credit for good behavior.
Chansley, however, was released 14 months early after being sentenced to 41 months in prison in November 2021 for his actions on Jan. 6, 2021.
Greene, who has been an advocate for the Jan. 6 prisoners, declared in an initial tweet, “Jacob Chansley is free.”
“A J6 political prisoner persecuted for walking in the Capital escorted by police. He prayed for them and encouraged everyone to be peaceful,” Greene insisted.
Greene then said, “I hope he sues everyone that assassinated his character and lied about him.”
In a follow-up quote tweet, Greene added, “All the credit goes to @SpeakerMcCarthy for releasing the video tapes and @TuckerCarlson for his great work exposing the lies of the politically corrupt Democrats and the January 6th Committee.”
Carlson had recently shared videos from Jan. 6 that he received from McCarthy which showed, as Politico put it, Chansley walking through Capitol hallways accompanied by police officers, who at some moments appeared to be facilitating his movements, even opening a Senate-wing door for him at one point, and certainly weren’t trying to subdue him.
Politico, however, and prosecutors, argued that the clips didn’t indicate what time of day the footage came from or any of the context about the interactions.
