Last-ditch Effort Falls Short As Brittney Griner Loses Appeal, Will Serve 9-Year Sentence Unless Biden Comes Through With a Prisoner Exchange

A last-ditch effort by WNBA player Brittney Griner fell short as she lost an appeal and will be forced to serve her 9-year sentence unless Joe Biden comes through with a prisoner exchange.

According to reports, a Moscow regional court upheld Griner’s August conviction on charges of drug possession and drug smuggling with criminal intent.

Appearing via video call from behind the white bars of her jail cell at a detention center outside Moscow, Griner called it “traumatic” to be away from her family.

Griner implored the court to take into account what went “overlooked” during her first court date and to “reassess her sentence.”

Arguing that the initial conviction and sentencing completely ignored the small amount of cannabis oil that Griner was carrying, her lack of intent to break Russian law, and the use of the substance for medical purposes, Griner’s lawyers tried their best to get her sentence reduced.

The Biden Administration has declared Griner “wrongfully detained” and has been working to try to secure her release, but to no avail thus far.

Trump-endorsed author Nick Adams summed up the thoughts of many conservatives after the news was released in a viral tweet.

Adams reported, “Brittney Griner is being transferred to a Russian penal colony, where she will spend the next 9 years after losing her appeal.”

“Thankful Brittney landed in a place where she won’t have to hear our terrible and oppressive National Anthem again for the foreseeable future,” Adams noted.
