On Sunday, we reported that Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R) had accused President Trump of “trying to burn the place down on the way out” and he has been undermining the president’s attempts to overturn the election results, which he believes to be fraudulent.
On Tuesday, Kinzinger was interviewed by Dana Bash on CNN and claimed that some Republican politicians are privately distancing themselves from the president. “
“I think they’re starting to, I’ll tell you the base is starting to turn.” Kinzinger said in the interview, while insisting that he is getting “texts every day” from politicians who are telling him that he’s “right.”
Congresswoman-elect Lauren Boebert (R-CO) was skeptical of the claim and asked in a tweet, “Rep. Kenzinger says President Trump is losing his base. Let’s fact check that. Are you guys starting to turn on Trump?”
Lavern Spicer, who ran for Congress in Florida this year against Trump-hating Democratic Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, responded to Boebert, “I’ve got Trump’s back until the day I die.”

Another response from a Twitter user, “Conservatarian,” said, “Hell, no. The GOP is losing its base, not Trump. We didn’t leave the GOP, the GOP left us. Trump hasn’t left us and never will.”

In October of last year, after Democrats in the House had began the impeachment process and Trump called them out on it, Kinzinger was upset over the words that he used to describe what he felt was a partisan move.
“We can all disagree on the process, and argue merits. But never should we use terms like ‘lynching’ here. The painful scourge in our history has no comparison to politics, and President Trump should retract this immediately. May God help us to return to a better way,” Kinzinger said at the time.
