Lauren Boebert Slams Colorado Dem Sec of State’s Attempt to Make ‘Emergency COVID Voting Measures’ Permanent

A public hearing was held yesterday on a long list of proposed rule changes made by Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold (D).

U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) slammed the proposed rule changes as a “partisan power grab” that cannot be allowed.

Boebert explained, “Colorado’s Secretary of State is trying to change the rules to give herself more power & take it away from local county clerks.”

“Her proposed rule changes would take many of the emergency COVID voting measures and make them permanent,” Boebert added.

Griswold denied Boebert’s accusations in a response which led to a back-and-forth Twitter spat between the two elected officials.

“Congresswoman, this is just not true. Your lies cause harm to election workers, to our elections, and to county clerks across the state, including in your own district,” Griswold claimed.

Boebert then retorted, “What’s harmful are your policies and failed leadership that have caused mass distrust in our elections. When you moved from DC to Colorado, you brought the swamp mentality with you, and it’s hurting Colorado.”

Griswold responded by invoking Jan. 6 and told Boebert, “You continue to lie about our elections, and stoked an insurrection at the Capitol. That is what hurts our state and country.”

Boebert then appears to have ended the tit-for-tat and lectured, “Nice to see you’ve gotten your media talking points to deflect from what you’re doing to our state elections. Just know that the people see what you’re doing & I will continue to stand for free and fair elections despite your best efforts to destroy them.”

Previously, The Center Square reported on backlash from the state GOP over one of the rule changes where they said Griswold was attempting to stifle transparency.

In a recent article highlighting voting integrity laws made by Republican legislatures throughout the country, Griswold accused them of attempting to “rewrite the rules” because they “didn’t like the results.”

“This is a breakdown of what it means to live in the United States. It’s an attack on the democracy. It’s an attack on the idea that Americans get to choose their elected officials,” Griswold asserted.
