NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre weighed in on the guilty verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial and said that he didn’t believe the former Minneapolis cop meant to kill George Floyd.
Favre, who said at the end of last October that he was voting for former President Trump, said yesterday on his podcast, “I find it hard to believe, and I’m not defending Derek Chauvin in any way, I find it hard to believe, first of all, that he intentionally meant to kill George Floyd.”
“That being said, his actions were uncalled for. I don’t care what color the person is on the street. I don’t know what led to that video that we saw where his knee is on his neck, but the man had thrown in the towel,” Favre added.
Many liberals have been triggered by the comments from Favre, who had recently urged athletes to stay out of politics.
A Biden 2020 volunteer Jake Lobin tweeted, “So… Brett Favre had more of an issue when Colin Kaepernick took a knee on the field, than when Derek Chauvin took a knee on George Floyd. Got it.”

It is unclear what Lobin was referring too as last June Favre caused a stir when he recognized Kaepernick along with Pat Tillman in an interview that drew backlash from conservatives.
Author Don Winslow tagged Favre in a tweet and said, “Your incredibly stupid and inaccurate comments today about George Floyd’s MURDER transport you from a**hole to full scale POS.”

Liberal political blogger “The Palmer Report” referenced Favre’s recent comments about athletes staying out of politics and said, “Brett Favre, who just got done telling Black athletes they should keep their political views to themselves, offers asinine political view on Derek Chauvin conviction.”

Singer Ricky Davilla also referenced Kaepernick that “It’s just interesting how the always racist Brett Favre condemned Colin Kaepernick for peacefully taking a knee to bring attention to both racial injustice and police brutality, but is now coming in the defense of killer Derek Chauvin who used HIS KNEE to murder a black man.”
