Manchin and Tester Vote to Put Republicans Over the Top on Measure to Repeal Biden’s Vaccine Mandate

Previously, we reported that U.S. Sen Joe Manchin (D-WV) was set to vote in favor of a measure to repeal President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate on private employers with more than 100 employees.

Tonight the bill rebuking Biden’s Executive Order passed with Manchin voting for it as well as Jon Tester (D-MT) and all 50 Republicans.

U.S. Sen Tom Cotton (R-AR) applauded the vote in a tweet where he declared, “A bipartisan majority of Senators agree: Joe Biden’s unconstitutional vaccine mandate should be withdrawn.”

The legislation is likely to be simply symbolic as it doesn’t appear that it will be able to pass the House and even if it does, Biden would likely veto it, which would send it back to Congress and require 2/3rds majorities.

As we previously reported, U.S. House Rep Fred Keller (R-PA) is leading companion legislation in the House of Representatives.

Keller announced yesterday that all 212 Republican House members have cosponsored his Congressional Review Act resolution to nullify Biden’s vaccine mandate.

“I urge my House Democratic colleagues to stand with us against this blatant gov’t overreach” Keller added in a tweet where he also shared a video announcing the news.

Currently, there is an injunction against the mandate that was made by a federal judge, so the best opportunity that Republicans have to get it rescinded is through the courts.
