Marine Sniper Testifies Afghan Suicide Bomber Could Have Been Taken out but he was Told Not to Engage

In stunning testimony yesterday, a Marine sniper testified that his squadron could have taken out the suicide bomber who killed 183 people including 13 U.S. troops in August 2021.

Sgt. Tyler Vargas-Andrews described being severely wounded in the attack and wept as he explained what happened.

Vargas-Andrews told Congress during the hearing, “Plain and simple, we were ignored. Our expertise was disregarded. No one was held accountable for our safety.”

“The withdrawal was a catastrophe, in my opinion. There was an inexcusable lack of accountability,” Vargas-Andrews insisted.

The hearing was part of an investigation into Joe Biden’s handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal by the House Foreign Affairs Committee now that Republicans are in charge.

General Mike Flynn shared a clip of Vargas-Andrews’ testimony and said, “Sgt. Tyler Vargas-Andrews is an American hero of the highest order.”

“I am in tears listening to his testimony, for him and the 13 US Military killed that day and the many others wounded.”

“God help us in our quest for leadership and accountability in our military and our country. The chain of command, all the way to the POTUS, failed our men and women on this day and their failure caused the needless death and suffering of Americans.”

“This is why war sucks and Tyler is an example of what bravery looks like. Pray for these young men and women serving in our armed forces.”

“When leadership breaks down, the results are devastating. God bless our troops.”

  1. *Marine – is a proper noun; it’s capitalized. 🙂
