On Monday, Mark Wahlberg posted a video on Instagram congratulating his son Micheal on his Confirmation.
Wahlberg, who is on his knees in the video, Wahlberg says “Good morning from Europe,” while doing the sign of the cross. “Just got down on my hands and my knees to express my gratitude on this beautiful day. Congratulations to my son Michael for making his Confirmation. All the young people out there who are Confirmed and taking their relationship with the lord into their adulthood. What a commitment you guys have made, congratulations to all of you.”
He went on to talk about a prayer he listened to on Hallow App and about the Celtic’s win.
He captioned his post, “Congratulations to Mikey and everyone who made their confirmation
Check out @hallowapp
Congrats @celtics
& @jimmybutler, GOAT in the making”
He also shared a picture of his son who was Confirmed and his wife with the caption, “So proud of this young man❤️🙏congrats buddy!! Even though mommy deserves most of the credit😂thanks babe🙏❤️🙏”
It’s rare to hear a Hollywood actor praise acts of faith in this day and age. It is a refreshing thing to see his support of his son’s Catholic faith as a positive family influence.
Wahlberg had a big wake-up call at 16 when he went to jail after being charged with attempted murder for attacking a man outside a convenience store.
Wahlberg shared, “A lot of people go to God when they get into trouble. When I heard the jail doors close behind me, I knew that was just the beginning for me.”
Wahlberg has credited his turnaround to his faith and the Catholic Church. On Easter weekend Wahlberg’s movie Father Stu was released, which is about the life of a priest from self-destruction to redemption.
It appears lately that Wahlberg has taken a more outspoken stance on his faith, which is refreshing to see.
