Matt Gaetz Pours Salt on the Wound, Proposes the ‘PENCIL Act’ to Block Adam Schiff From Reviewing Classified Information

It has been reported today that U.S. House Rep Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has proposed a bill that would pour salt on the wound of U.S. House Rep Adam Schiff (D-CA) after he was denied a spot on the House Intelligence Committee.

According to the Daily Caller’s Henry Rodgers, Gaetz is set to introduce the ‘PENCIL Act,’ which would block Schiff from reviewing classified information.

PENCIL stands for “Preventing Extreme Negligence with Classified Information Licenses” resolution, according to Rodgers.

The name of the bill also appears to be a play on Schiff’s nickname among those on the right who refer to him as “pencil neck.”

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was forceful in denouncing Schiff from being on the Intelligence Committee.

McCarthy said in a tweet today that Schiff lied about Russian collusion, about Hunter Biden’s laptop, and about knowing a whistleblower.

Schiff appeared last night along with U.S. House Rep Eric Swalwell (D-CA) who was also not seated on the Intelligence Committee on Joy Reid’s MSNBC show “The Reid Out.”

“I think this is an effort by McCarthy to please the boss down at Mar-a-Lago, to excite the right-wing base and to deliver payback to Marjorie Taylor Greene, who he is now fully indebted to for his speakership,” Schiff told Reid as to why isn’t on the committee.

“Apart for what he’s doing to me or to Eric, it does damage to the Intelligence Committee to use it as a political plaything the way McCarthy is,” Schiff insisted as well.

As we previously reported, Schiff announced that he is running for senate today, despite the latest development.
