At today’s press conference in Polk County where Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 1 ‘Anti-Riot Bill’ into law, Polk County Florida Sheriff Grady Judd displayed two photographs, one of a peaceful protest and the other of a riot. Sheriff Judd then said, “We can tell the difference and I’ll guarantee you that you’ll be able to tell the difference if you come here and riot.”

This all comes after Sunday’s press conference where Judd announced they were investigating an officer-involved deadly shooting. Judd reported that the man who was tased and shot announced to the police, “I am going to die tonight… you are going to have to shoot me.”
10 Tampa Bay reported, “The sheriff’s office said Jenkins continued to ignore the officers and said “I’m going to die tonight” and “you’re going to have to shoot me.”
According to the sheriff’s office, an officer tased Jenkins but it didn’t have an effect on him. Officers say they saw Jenkins start taking his hand out of his pocket, revealing the butt of a gun. The officer tased Jenkins again, but the sheriff’s office said it only had a “small effect.”
When Jenkins reportedly took the gun out of his pocket, Sgt. Dental fired his gun at him, hitting him several times, according to the sheriff’s office.
Jenkins then fell to the ground and dropped the gun, at which point officers performed life-saving measures and called EMS, the sheriff’s office said. “
After the signing of HB1 into law it seems that Sherriff Grady to the opportunity to make sure that the radical leftists like Maxie Waters know they are not welcome to come to Polk county. They will not allow them to destroy their city like the events we have seen over last week and through out the summer of 2020.
Maxine Waters took the opportunity of the tragic incident that occurred in Brooklyn Center and used it to fuel the flame with her rhetoric. Minneapolis Minnesota and the surrounding area have seen much civil unrest with lots of looting and rioting since last year. Many are concerned that this will come to their neighborhoods if nothing is done. Florida is taking the right steps to stop the madness.
John Robb reported on the new Florida law.
DeSantis: “If you riot, you are going to jail, and you are going to have to spend time in jail. If you assault law enforcement in a violent assembly, you are definitely going to go to jail. You burn down somebody’s business. …”https://t.co/58PwCjPfxL

New definitions for a riot:
— John Robb (@johnrobb) April 19, 2021
"a public disturbance of at least three people with a “common intent.." A new crime of aggravated rioting… if the disturbance involves nine or more people and results in “great bodily harm,” property damage over $5,000 or blocks traffic…"
Blocks defunding of police:

"If a city reduces police funding, any resident could file an objection with the governor’s office, which would have the authority to amend or modify the budget."
With HB1 being signed by DeSantis today it seems officers in Florida will be able to do their jobs without mobs of people coming after them. We will see if other states follow suit and peruse the same types of law to protect people and businesses from riots.
