Mayor Lightfoot Receives Vote of No-Confidence from Chicago’s Fraternal Order of Police Amid Anti-White Racism Scandal

For the second year in a row, the St. Jude Memorial March for the city’s fallen cops was canceled. This and a lack of respect for Gold Star families and the members of the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police is what John Catanzara cited as the main reason for the unanimous vote of no-confidence. The no-confidence vote included Chicago Police, Superintendent David Brown, and First Deputy Eric Carter.

The vote took place on Wednesday, the midpoint of her time as mayor of Chicago. It was also brought to light on the same day that the mayor only is granting one on one interviews to only Black or Brown journalists. This scandal has backfired on Lightfoot with some calling her out for her anti-White racism including Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.

The second part of the no-confidence vote was cited as the working conditions that officers have faced for a “better part” of a year as Catanzara put it. Officers have been forced to work extended hours with social and family life suffering. The police have not had a contract for almost four years now. Catanzara says this does not preclude the Mayor from paying the officers retro pay for the last four years.

Officers have had their days off canceled and now work 12-hour shifts instead of 8 1/2, the reason cited by the superintendent for these moves according to Catanzara was the anniversary of George Floyd’s death in fear that something might happen. Catanzara stresses the strains this puts on officers and their families.

Lightfoot’s response to this was to blame the FOP for dragging out talks on a new deal for over three years saying they’re losing “literally tens of thousands of dollars” in back pay annually, the Tribune reported.

As Lightfoot faces backlash from her stance on only talking one on one with black and brown journalists and also the vote of no-confidence from the FOP. Talk show host Jesse Lee Peterson invites the Mayor to let him interview her on his show.

Peterson tweeted, “.@LoriLightfoot Since you’re only giving interviews to blacks. I’d like to interview you on my show. Will you come on?”

This seems unlikely as Peterson while he is black he is also conservative and may not fit into Lightfoot’s definition of black or brown. We may be surprised however and maybe she will take on the invitation for an interview on his show. That would be an interview worth watching!
