House Whip Steve Scalise has been picked to lead Republicans on the new House Coronavirus select committee and echoed Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy by saying he won’t let them “turn Coronavirus into impeachment 2.0” against President Trump “with their Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis.”
“While the Democrats might use this to take another stab at impeachment 2.0, Republicans we remain committed to truth and transparency,” McCarthy said.
Scalise said, “Dems want to turn Coronavirus into Impeachment 2.0 with their Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis.”
He added that he was determined to focus their work on 3 areas that “Dems continue to avoid” including holding “China accountable,” helping to “ensure the success of America’s largest relief effort,” and “providing guidance on re-opening” the economy.
Dems want to turn Coronavirus into Impeachment 2.0 with their Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis. We won’t let them do this again. I’m honored to be named the lead Republican on it—and will fight to stop it from turning into yet another witch hunt of @realDonaldTrump.
I’m determined to focus our work on 3 areas Dems continue to avoid:
1) Hold China accountable
2) Help ensure the success of America’s largest relief effort
3) Provide guidance on re-opening our economy
Our goal: Get people healthy, secure, and back to work. I hope Dems join us.
