Michael Cohen Lawsuit Against Trump Organization For Legal Fees Dismissed By Cuomo-Appointed NY Judge

A lawsuit that was filed in March 2019 by Michael Cohen against the Trump Organization for legal fees has finally been dismissed by a New York Judge that was appointed by former Dem Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Judge Joel M. Cohen ruled yesterday that Cohen’s breach of contract lawsuit for over $1.9 million against the company, filed after the disbarred lawyer pleaded guilty to tax evasion and other crimes, cannot go forward.

Just yesterday, prior to the ruling, Cohen tweeted out that the lawsuit, along with another one, was still “going” in response to a question from a Twitter user as to whether he could bring a lawsuit against Trump or not.

Cohen is still on house arrest and has been counting down the days until he is released, while also complaining at times about the sentence despite his “cooperation.”

Judge Cohen, in his decision, still took a slight shot at the former president as he wrote, “Mr. Cohen’s legal fees arise out of his (sometimes unlawful) service to Mr. Trump personally, to Mr. Trump’s campaign, and to the Trump Foundation, but not out of his service to the business of the Trump Organization, which is the only defendant in this case.”

The Trump Organization issued a statement on the ruling, calling it an “incredible victory” while also threatening a countersuit over Cohen’s “despicable conduct.”

Cohen’s lawyer, Lanny Davis, put out a request for donations to Cohen’s “Truth Fund” with GoFundMe in a tweet following the ruling.

“Judge just granted Trump Org’s motion for summary judgment against @michaelcohen212 for his legal fees associated with actions he undertook on behalf of and at the direction of Donald J. Trump. Unfair and asking for everyone’s assistance,” Davis explained.

Despite being on house arrest, Cohen has still been doing interviews with mainstream media outlets like CNN and MSNBC virtually.

Cohen has also been seen dining out at swanky restaurants, which his lawyer has said were granted after making a request.
