Former President Trump issued a new statement today where he suggested that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) should attend the “Infrastructure” bill White House signing ceremony.
Facing low poll numbers, rising inflation, and challenges getting the rest of his legislative priorities passed, Biden put off signing the bill in order to have a big ceremony, which will happen on Monday.
In the statement, Trump said, “Mitch McConnell has stated that he will not go to the signing of the ‘Non-Infrastructure’ Bill (only 11% for real Infrastructure) or, as it is sometimes called, the Elect Democrats in 2022/24 Act,”
Trump explained, “Based on the fact that the Old Crow convinced many Republican Senators to vote for the Bill, greatly jeopardizing their chance of winning re-election, and that he led the way, he should go to the signing and put up with the scorn from Great Republican Patriots that are already lambasting him.”
“Our country is being destroyed while Mitch McConnell gives lifelines to those who are destroying it!” Trump insisted.

McConnell previously said he would not go to the signing ceremony because he has “other things” he’s “got to do” when asked if he would be attending during an interview with WHAS, a Kentucky radio station.
19 Senate Republicans voted for the infrastructure bill in the Senate earlier this year including McConnell and the bill passed the House on Nov. 5 with the support of 13 House Republicans.
After the bill passed the House, Trump issued a statement slamming McConnell at that time.
