This evening President Trump announced on Twitter he would be replacing Mick Mulvaney with Mark Meadows, House Republican from North Carolina, who announced last year he would not be running for reelection. Mulvaney’s new position is Special Envoy for Northern Ireland.
….I want to thank Acting Chief Mick Mulvaney for having served the Administration so well. He will become the United States Special Envoy for Northern Ireland. Thank you!

Meadows was a strong defender of President Trump during the impeachment fiasco. He is a member of the freedom caucus and former chair from 2017 to 2019. He has represented North Carolina’s 11th congressional district since 2013. Trump cites their good relationship in his tweet.
President Trump thanked Mulvaney for stating he has served the Administration well. Mulvaney came under a lot of scrutiny from the press after a press conference that was held on the interactions of President Trump and President Zelensky before the impeachment began.
