Mitch McConnell Claims That Most Republicans See Ukraine Assistance as the Number One Priority Right Now

During a press conference today, U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) made a claim that came as a shock to many Republicans on Twitter.

Greg Price shared a clip of McConnell’s claim, where he said of the omnibus bill, “Making sure that the defense department can deal with the major threats coming from Russia and China.”

“Providing assistance for Ukrainians to defeat the Russians is the number one priority for the United States right now according to most Republicans,” McConnell insisted.

“That’s sort of how we see the challenges confronting the country at the moment,” McConnell added as he tried to brush off criticism.

McConnell may have been speaking about Republicans in the senate, but on Twitter, Republicans had a different reaction.

Journalist Jordan Schachtel replied to the clip, “In other news, several polls say fewer than 1% of Americans view Ukraine as their #1 priority.”

Price asserted in response, “That’s not too far away from McConnell’s approval rating!”

According to a report today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to travel to D.C. and meet with Congress this week, where he’s expected to ask them for more funding.

Texas Scorecard publisher Michael Quinn Sullivan pointed out, “Zelensky has already received $100 billion in under a year.”

“Why don’t they just go ahead and give him the PIN to the federal bank account?” Sullivan wondered.
