Donald Trump Jr. today had harsh words for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in response to a complaint about the support received from the United States thus far in the country’s war against Russia.
In a tweet, the Washington Examiner’s Byron York shared a screenshot of an Associated Press report on a video that was released by his office from a Bakhmut visit.
“Zelensky is apparently prepared to tell Congress that whatever the US has given Ukraine — $45 billion in new aid now under consideration — it is not enough,” York said.
Zelensky said, “The guys handed over our beautiful Ukrainian flag with their signatures for us to pass on. We are not in an easy situation. The enemy is increasing its army.”
“Our people are braver and need more powerful weapons. We will pass it on from the boys to the Congress, to the president of the United States,” Zelensky continued.
Zelensky then explained, “We are grateful for their support, but it is not enough. It is a hint — it is not enough.”
Trump declared in the tweet that he believes, “Zelensky is basically an ungrateful international welfare queen.”

It seems that Congress is poised to give Zelensky whatever he is asking for as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said at a press conference yesterday, “Providing assistance for Ukrainians to defeat the Russians is the number one priority for the United States right now according to most Republicans.”
“That’s sort of how we see the challenges confronting the country at the moment,” McConnell added as he tried to brush off criticism.
