U.S. House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was defiant today after, in a largely party-line vote, the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives approved legislation yesterday to create a select committee to launch a new inquiry into the events that occurred on Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol.
In a tweet, Greene stated, “The Jan 6th committee is Pelosi making it clear to the American people that she doesn’t care about all the Antifa/BLM riots you endured all year long, she only cares about the Capitol and herself.”
Greene that added that Pelosi also only cares about “Continuing the witch hunt on President Trump and all of us who support him.”

And continuing the witch hunt on President Trump and all of us who support him.
Yesterday, Pelosi shared a clip of a speech she gave on the House floor about the formation of the committee prior to the vote and said, “Lies fueled the violent insurrection to block election certification & the peaceful transfer of power that is the cornerstone of our democracy.”
“Yet Republicans in Congress want to bury the truth of the attack. The Select Committee will investigate Jan. 6th & defend our democracy,” Pelosi added in the tweet.

U.S. House Rep Liz Cheney (R-WY) was the only Republican selected for the committee by Pelosi and she voted to impeach then-President Trump in January.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has reportedly threatened to strip members of their existing committee assignments if they accept an appointment from Pelosi to the select committee, according to three sources, but he has denied the allegations.
Cheney and U.S. House Rep Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) were the only Republicans to vote to create the committee.
McCarthy can appoint up to five Republicans for the committee but it is unclear if he will do so and Pelosi has the final say as to whether they will go on the committee or not.
