‘My Kids Are Not Property of the State’ Lauren Boebert Rejects Unearthed MSNBC Clip Claiming That Kids Belong to ‘Communities’

An unearthed MSNBC video clip previously released by MSNBC went viral where Melissa Harris-Perry claimed that kids don’t belong to parents but rather to “communities.”

U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) made her feelings known about the video in a tweet where she also shared the clip.

Boebert declared in response, “I’m a mom of four boys. My kids are not property of the state.”

“This is the kind of insanity that we are up against in 2022. They’re going full steam ahead before the extinction-level election on the table for them,” Boebert insisted.

In the video, Harris-Perry suggested, “We have never invested enough in public education as we should have because we have always have had a private notion of children – Your kid is yours and totally your responsibility.”

“We haven’t had a very collective notion of these are our children. So part of it is that we have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their family and recognize that kids belong to whole communities,” Harris-Perry explained.

The video concluded with the words “Lean Forward” appearing on the screen (Which was the name of her show) and Harris-Perry claiming, “Once its everybody’s responsibility and not just the household, then we start making better investments.”

The video also made waves in 2013 when it was first released, with Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck pushing back among others.

Harris-Perry asked in a tweet, “Lord have Mercy. What Mercury retrograde algorithm madness has these fools trolling me over a ten year old promotion for a TV show I haven’t hosted in 6 years?!

Twitter user “BaySill,” who re-released the clip explained the reasoning for doing so in response in a quote tweet asking, “So why was MSNBC re-airing it between segments in the fall in the context of the VA gubernatorial race?”

The words by Harris-Perry in the video were very similar to words used by failed Virginia Dem Gov nominee Terry McAuliffe during a debate with Gov Glenn Youngkin which ended up being a big negative factor for him in the election.
