Nancy Pelosi Plays Coy, Gets Snippy When Asked By Jake Tapper if She Plans to Run For Re-Election

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) may not run for re-election next year as she played coy and got snippy when asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper about her prospects for doing so.

At the end of her interview on “State of the Union,” Tapper asked Pelosi, 81, about her future in Congress and if she was going to run for re-election.

“Oh you think I’m going to make an announcement right here and now?” Pelosi shot back laughing.

“Yeah, why not?” Tapper wondered as Pelosi exclaimed, “I’ll have to be on many more times than that.”

Tapper then pressed, “You’re going to run for re-election though, yes?”

Pelosi again avoided and asked “Why would I tell you that now?” while continuing to chuckle.

“Well it’s not just me, it’s the American people, it’s the world, this is an international show,” Tapper responded, pumping up his credidentials.

Nancy then responded, “Probably I would have that conversation with my family first, if you don’t mind.”

“Ok, thank you so much, I appreciate it. Best of luck with the legislation, it’s a heavy lift,” Tapper concluded, obviously disappointed she wouldn’t answer.

In March, the Los Angeles Times speculated that Pelosi’s time in Washington D.C. could be coming to an end soon and that her daughter Christine might eventually fill her seat.
