NJ Gov. Phil Murphy Dismisses ‘Racist’ Accusations From Giuliani of Camden Residents Voting in Philadelphia

During Thursday’s press conference that was held with the Trump legal team, former NY Mayor Rudy Giuliani made an accusation that residents of New Jersey, a heavily Democratic state, were coming to Pennsylvania to help tilt the swing state.

Giuliani said, “You knew if you lived in Philadelphia. Unless you’re stunod — that’s an Italian expression for stupid — unless you’re stupid, you knew that a lot of people were coming over from Camden to vote.”

“They do every year. Happens all the time in Philly. … And it’s allowed to happen because it’s a Democrat (sic), corrupt city, and has been for years. Many, many years. And they carried it out in places where they could get away from it,” Giuliani added.

Brandon Tensley with CNN said in his analysis that “Such claims are dangerous and bad not only because they’re free of facts — but also because they use the same racist messaging that’s defined the Trump administration for the past four years.”

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy shared the article by Tensley and said, “Mayor Giuliani’s claim that Camden residents voted in Philadelphia is not only outrageous, but racist and blatantly false. On this one, I agree with Chris Christie that this guy is truly a national embarrassment.”

Appearing on ABC’s “This Week”, Christie said that the behavior of President Donald Trump’s legal team has been a “national embarrassment.”

Christie believes that “This is outrageous conduct by any lawyer,” in reference to what he believes is a lack of consistency between public statements and courtroom evidence.

“They allege fraud outside the courtroom, but when they go inside the courtroom, they don’t plead fraud and they don’t argue fraud,” Christie added.
