Every two years, the House of Representatives office lottery that closes out new member orientation becomes a delicate game of chance that will determine who gets the best available workspaces.
Incoming NY Congresswoman-elect Nicole Malliotakis was excited with the office space that she was able to secure because it was previously used by Vice President Mike Pence for a couple of years when he represented Indiana.
“Today we had the freshman office lottery and I got Cannon Building 417, an office previously occupied by Vice President Mike Pence from 2005-2006. That’s cool,” Malliotakis tweeted.
The vice president’s nephew and senior advisor to the Trump campaign, John Pence, was one of many who congratulated her and said, “You earned it, Nicole!”

After a final tally of absentee ballots, it was confirmed on Tuesday that Malliotakis defeated incumbent Max Rose, denying the Democrat a second term representing one of the few conservative-leaning parts of New York City.
Although she declared victory on Nov. 3rd and Rose conceded the race on Nov. 12th, New York City’s Board of Elections refused for weeks to publicly release information about its count of a large number of absentee ballots.
Malliotakis is one of the Republicans that have supposedly banned together to create a group dubbed the “Freedom Force” which they say will oppose “The Squad” of progressive Democratic congresswomen.
“I think what you’re going to see is a group of individuals who are going to serve as a counterbalance to the values of the socialist squad,” Malliotakis said in an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
“We don’t believe we should be dismantling the economy. We don’t believe we should be destroying free market principles. We don’t believe in Green New Deal. We don’t believe in packing the courts,” she added while mentioning it was “a natural alliance.”
