Pair of Fishermen Disqualified From Tournament and Stripped of $5,000 ‘Victory’ After Lead Weights Found in Fish

A pair of fishermen were recently disqualified from a tournament and stripped of their $5,000 “victory” after lead weights were found in the winning fish.

A viral video shared by Gene Merck on Facebook shows the tournament director Jason Fischer pulling the balls out of the fish.

“Let’s make these guys famous!! 8 lbs of weights stuffed in fish!! Should have jail time over things like this!! Merck declared.

Merck added that the cheating took place in an “Ohio fishing tourney” and that “Jake Runyan and Chase Cominsky” were the perpetrators.

According to the Daily Mail, the pair’s catch weighed in at 33 pounds, nearly double what their nearest competitor had caught.

The discrepancy created suspicion which caused Fischer to then decide to gut the fish, at which point the duo’s cheating was exposed.

Fischer announced to the crowd, “We got weights on the fish!” which sent the crowd into a frenzy for being duped by the duo.

Many cursed as Fischer ejected the pair out of the tournament like an umpire ejecting a baseball manager.

It was also suggested that in the past the pair may have cheated as well in events that may have had a larger amount of money and prizes.
