Peter Doocy and Jen Psaki Engage in Dramatic Tiff Over How Domestic Oil Production Works Amid Sky High Gas Disaster

Everyone knows that oil and gas prices are sky-high. Many experts predict they will go higher. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that the war between Ukraine and Russia has caused this situation to get worse.

But many politicos fiercely debate if Joe Biden’s policies were making oil higher before the Russia disaster. Many others are fiercely debating whether or not Biden’s ongoing policies are helping or exacerbating the current situation.

It’s difficult to lay the blame directly at Biden’s feet, as “fact-checkers” will claim that the cancelation of the Keystone XL pipeline that wasn’t yet in production anyway didn’t affect near-term oil and gas prices in their view.

But the Biden administration is in a way talking out of two sides of their mouth. They’re partially acknowledging the ongoing issues, while simultaneously lecturing (in our view) Americans about how much gas money they wouldn’t have to spend if they simply had an electric car.

To many, this is not an easy switch, and it feels out of touch to put it the way they are, regardless of where you fall on the oil price debate.

Earlier, Peter Doocy got into it with White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki over the situation and we’ll let you decide what you think of the back and forth yourself.

Doocy: Why did you guys decide to rebrand the rising gas prices as the #PutinPriceHike.

Psaki: I mean, if you want to use that on Fox, I welcome that.

Doocy: Does President Biden think that each of these 9,000 leases that are available have oil or gas in them? Because industry experts are saying that that accusation is a complete red herring. Some permits are viable, and some are not. When you say that, this represents a fundamental misunderstanding as to how this process works.

Psaki: Well, first of all, nearly 60% of these acres remain non-producing, that’s a lot. In the range of 20 million acres. So there are 9,000 unused approved permits to drill in. That should not require us inviting them to do that. They should do that themselves.

Doocy: (While being interrupted) what about additional permits/

What additional permits do they need? The leases are there, the permits are there, I don’t think they need an embroidered invitation to drill…

Watch:

Earlier Biden spoke to reporters saying there’s nothing he can do (short term) about high gas. “They’re gonna go up,” he said of prices.
