President Trump Golfs with Lindsey Graham, Can he Change his Tune on Foreign Aid?

The Daily Mail is reporting that President Donald Trump was golfing with US Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) today. Golfing among friends is certainly a nice way to spend Christmas day as long as you’re also able to get enough quality time with your family if you have one. See Trump headed to play golf:

One thing many people may wonder about is what will the conversation matter be like? Lindsey Graham often disagrees with President Trump’s style of leadership, despite the fact that he paints himself a loyal ally.

It’s definitely one of the more bizarre friendships we’ve seen during the Trump administration, especially considering how close Lindsey used to be with John McCain, the late Senator and failed US presidential candidate who loathed Donald Trump.

Nevertheless, Graham and Trump are out golfing today. Recently Donald Trump skewered lawmakers for trying to pass a spending bill that had a Covid-19 relief package inside with only $600 for most Americans. The larger bill, not the Covid-19 portion, had included a lot of pork, and Graham has gone on record defending some of the pork, including tons of money to Pakistan for Gender research.

When President Trump recently addressed the nation he attacked the wasteful spending, which he wanted less of, and said he wants more money directly to Americans including $2000 in direct payments. Democrats pretended to ‘agree’ with Trump, but they only wanted to increase the total bill, not pass a bill without all the pork-based on our research.

This was in an effort to paint the Republicans as greedy and unable to help the suffering Americans by getting a bill passed. While many GOP electeds are indeed not good at understanding the American’s needs, and may not even pass a standalone Covid-19 relief bill with a $2000 check, it still confused many. Is Trump trying to get Graham on the same page today? Or is it just golf?

Daily Mail reported in part:

President Donald Trump headed to his West Palm Beach golf club on Christmas morning with Sen. Lindsey Graham, a top Congressional ally

President Donald Trump doubled down on his demand to Congress to increase payments from $600 to $2,000 in the spending and COVID-19 stimulus bill that lawmakers already sent to the president’s desk.

‘Made many calls and had meetings at Trump International in Palm Beach, Florida,’ the president tweeted after being spotted with Sen. Lindsey Graham heading to his golf club on Christmas morning. ‘Why would politicians not want to give people $2000, rather than only $600? It wasn’t their fault, it was China. Give our people the money!’

Earlier, Politico’s Playbook reported that the president was complaining that the giant package had too much ‘pork.’
