A report released today by U.S. House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-R), details many alleged problems as well as the treatment of January 6th Detainees held at the D.C. Jail. Greene held a press conference today about the report she released along with, Reps Louie Gohmert(TX-R), Paul Gosar(AZ-R), and Matt Gaetz(FL-R).
When Gohmert took his turn at the podium he highlighted an elderly detainee who had allegedly been found with a gun at the Capitol which is why he is being held. Gohmert said, “You look at his hand, and it’s obviously dark, looks like it’s going grey or turning black. You know that’s normally leading toward amputation when it gets that bad, but they haven’t given him proper medical care.”
The man Gohmert is talking about in the video clip above is listed in the report as Lonnie Leroy Coffman, who has been held since January 6th. The report reads, “One elderly inmate, 71-year-old Lonnie Leroy Coffman, was in such poor condition that his lower forearm had turned purple and his thumb, black.
Inmates claimed Lonnie could be in danger of losing his lower arm and has been denied medical treatment. Multiple inmates argued that if there were a way to get any inmate released, it should be Lonnie.”
Greene and Gohmert were allowed to tour the DC Jail facilities on November 4th, 2021. This is where they gathered their information for the report that was released today.
According to the DOJ website, on November 12th Mr. Coffman pleaded guilty to federal and local firearms offenses stemming from the discovery of weapons in his pickup truck parked near the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. He is set to be sentenced on April 1st, 2022.
He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each of the federal offenses and faces up to five years in prison and a $12,500 fine for the District of Columbia offense.
