Ron DeSantis laid out a timeline for “Fox and Friends” on when he may be ready to announce a potential run for president in 2024. DeSantis has made no attempt to quash rumors that he may run but also seems not yet to have decided if it’s the right move.
During DeSantis’ appearance on Fox and Friends this morning to talk about various topics, Brian Kilmead asked Florida’s Governor, “What is your timeline to decide if that is the next best thing for you and your family, for you to run for president?”
DeSantis shared he has “two big things” coming up. The first is a book tour to promote his book that will be released at the end of February, “The Courage to be Free”. The second is the Florida legislature’s regular session, which starts in March.
“We’re going to sell some books, we’re going to spread the message of Florida,” he told the hosts of Fox and Friends.
He then went on about Florida’s legislative session sharing, “You ain’t seen nothing yet,” he added. “This is going to be the most productive Legislative Session we have had across the board and I think people are going to be really excited … So those are what we’re going to be doing over these next few months as we get beyond that, then we can decide from there.”
The hosts pushed to try and get DeSantis to announce he would run. DeSantis may be rethinking it all with new polling showing him falling behind.
Trump shared a quote from a Washinton Times article, “Support for DeSantis cools in latest GOP POLL.” Trump went on to explain in his opinion why that is.
“Of course it cools. He wants to cut Social Security and Medicare, loves “throw them over the cliff” Paul Ryan, who is destroying FoxNews and the WSJ, Piglet Karl Rove, and “Jeb.” Also, Ron DeSanctimonious is for Globalist Club For NO Growth, and Open Borders Charles Koch. We want AMERICA FIRST. NOT AMERICA LAST!!!”
Many including former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin have told DeSantis to wait this one out, it isn’t his time. Palin seems to be all in for Trump in 2024 and shared she thinks that DeSantis should wait until 2028 to take a turn running for the Oval office.
DeSantis seems in no hurry to hop on the campaign trail for president and may just wait it out until another term passes, for now, we will have to wait and see.
Donald Trump announced he was seeking a second term shortly after the midterm elections. Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley formally announced he bid last week. U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) is also deciding if he will run in this next presidential election or not. It seems campaign season has already started for 2024.
