Sheila Jackson Lee Introduces Legislation to Stymie Freedom of Speech Specific to White Americans

U.S. House Rep. Sheila Jackson (D-TX) introduced a bill (H.R. 61) last week to “expand” on specific hate crimes, targeting what she deems to be “White supremacy-inspired hate crimes”.

The bill is titled “Leading Against White Supremacy Act of 2023”.

The bill proposes changes to Section 249 of title 18 (Hate Crimes Acts).

Jackson wants to add, “or because of a white supremacy based motivation against any person” after “race, color, religion, or national origin of any person”. Thus making sure to highlight crimes against non-whites.

The bill also names “replacement theory” as one of the flags for enforcement, including discussions on social media as being able to be used as evidence. “Replacement theory” is the idea that non-white immigrants are being used by Democrats to flood the country to replace the White population which is on the decline. However, Democrats have used this same rhetoric themselves to claim that Texas will soon become a Democrat-voting state however, and apparently, it’s allowed for them to do so.

What seems the most alarming part of the bill is that it is to be used as a preventative measure, allowing the door to be opened to enforcement on social media posts. “To prevent and prosecute white supremacy inspired hate crime and conspiracy to commit white supremacy inspired hate crime and to amend title 18, United States Code, to expand the scope of hate crimes.”

In her speech, Jackson theatrically introduced her bill:

“Rep. Jackson Lee (D-TX) Introduces Orwellian Bill to Criminalize “Conspiracy to Commit White Supremacy”

Whether or not you agree with certain speech, there should not be prosecution for said opinions in a country with a constitution that protects it. Social media companies can and do enforce rules, but when the government tells you what to say and think, it means it can expand to almost anything.

  1. I’m a white American. If Jackson Lee was dying right in front of me on the ground I think I just step on her.

  2. Well, ok Ms Lee; maybe we could point out your guilt in terms of cultural appropriation. You appropriated an entire culture founded initially by almost all white people. The government, the simple things we invented to make our infrastructure. The paper you write on, the electricity that lights your way, the automobile that you use for conveyance, he microphone you blabber in endlessly, the list is long and varied. Stop appropriating our culture and go back to sitting around a fire with a bone in your nose,

    1. This is the best comment I’ve read in a long time.
