Ted Cruz is the Latest GOP Senator to Call for Dr. Fauci ‘To Go’

Last week, a trio of GOP Senators called for Dr. Anthony Fauci to either step down or be removed from his position over a controversy about the origins of COVID-19 after Fauci and others had dismissed the lab-leak theory as a right-wing conspiracy theory for months.

U.S. Sen Ted Cruz (R-TX) is the latest to call for the doctor’s removal from his government positions.

“It’s time for Dr. Fauci to go. He has behaved more like a two-bit politician than a scientist,” Cruz insisted.

In an interview on the Michael Berry Show, Cruz called Fauci’s behavior “deeply dismaying,” specifically referencing an email scandal that has also been a source of outcry against Fauci.

Fauci has fired back at his critics, suggesting that “Attacks on me, quite frankly, are attacks on science.”

A group of U.S. House Republicans held a press conference yesterday as well where they called for the Fauci’s removal and accused him of advocating unnecessary measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

U.S. House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who first introduced the “Fire Fauci” bill, said, “Dr. Fauci was not elected by the American people—he was not supposed to guide our economy. Yet Dr. Fauci very much controlled our lives for the past year.”

Another representative in attendance at the press conference, Bob Good (R-VA), tweeted a picture of him speaking at the podium and said that he was, “Proud to stand with @RepMTG and colleagues in calling for Dr. Fauci to be fired! #FireFauci

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has also called for Fauci’s removal in recent days.

McCarthy told the Breitbart News Saturday radio show that he believes, “The American people don’t have trust in Dr. Fauci. Let’s find a person we can trust. Take politics aside, I mean we’re talking about American lives here.”
